Residents vote for community groups to receive funding
The Decision Day event aims to encourage locals to be more involved in decision making.
More than 200 Ayrshire residents turned up to vote on which local community groups should receive funding to help support their work.
The Decision Day event was designed as part of the participatory budgeting programme, which encourages people to get involved in local decision-making.
With a total of £50,000 available from South Ayrshire Council, residents voted for 26 projects to receive funding.
Local groups were given up to £1000, projects that benefit the wider community received up to £5000 and two awards of up to £10,000 for projects addressing social isolation.
South Ayrshire Council leader Douglas Campbell said: "With a healthy crowd turning out on the day, community groups are now taking forward projects that have been directly backed by like-minded people.
"In the last 18 months, decision days have seen hundreds of people vote on positive projects with these latest success stories all giving something back to a broad-range of different people all connected by a single community.
"Importantly, the events also allow people to network and hear what other groups are doing, something we hope will lead to new partnerships being forged and further good work developed in the months ahead."
