Detectives are trying to establish the final movements of a man who was found dead outside a block of flats in West Dunbartonshire.

His body was discovered on Halkett Crescent in Alexandria at around 9.30am on Thursday.

The road was closed off as forensic officers attended, who were seen searching through bins as part of their investigation.

The death is being treated as unexplained.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 9.30am on Thursday, October 5, police were called after the body of a man was found in Halkett Crescent, Alexandria.

"A post-mortem examination has been carried out and police are currently treating the death as unexplained.

"Extensive police enquiries are continuing into the death and officers are working to establish his last known movements."
