Woman 'wants to be with man who killed their baby'
Woman still wants to be in a relationship man accused of killing their baby son.
A Kilmarnock woman still wants to be in a relationship with the man accused of killing their baby son, a court has heard.
Katie Strawhorn, 20, remained in touch with Jack Butterworth, 18, after the death of baby Lucas in November 2016.
The evidence was heard at Butterworth's trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
Prosecutors claim he assaulted Ms Strawhorn and she suffered a "placental abruption", resulting in Lucas being born by emergency caesarean section.
The baby was said to have so severely injured that he died five days later in hospital.
The trial earlier heard how the couple started dating in January 2016 but there were regular rows after she fell pregnant.
Butterworth allegedly attacked Ms Strawhorn at a number of properties in Kilmarnock on November 3 last year.
She was 36 weeks' pregnant at the time.
The indictment includes claims Butterworth did "kick her on the stomach" as well as chase and cause her to "flee and fall"
It is also alleged he did "repeatedly inflict blunt force trauma on her head and body".
Ms Strawhorn earlier told the court Butterworth "went to hit her on the back" but struck her baby bump as she turned round to face him.
The jury was shown screenshots of messages between the couple after the death of Lucas, including Ms Strawhorn stating she had a "lump in my throat every morning".
Butterworth faces a separate charge of assaulting Ms Strawhorn between January and November 2016.
This includes a claim he threw fire crackers at her as well as punching and kicking her.
A further charge claims he behaved in a threatening manner towards the baby's mother and another woman.
Prosecutors allege he also broke wardrobe mirrors and threw furniture.
