The gale force winds are expected to peak across western Scotland in the early hours of Monday.
The west of Scotland will also have frequent heavy showers in the morning during rush hour.
Delays for drivers and public transport passengers are expected.
The Tay Road Bridge was closed to high-sided vehicles and the Forth Road Bridge was closed to pedestrians and cyclists.
A yellow warning for wind was put in place by the Met Office throughout Monday, covering all of Scotland and much of northern England.
The Met Office's chief forecaster said: "Gusts of 50 to 60mph are likely to develop quite widely, with gusts of 70mph possible over parts of northern and western Scotland and more locally over high ground elsewhere.
"Winds are expected to peak across western Scotland in the early hours of Monday and through the central belt of Scotland during Monday morning's busy travel period.
"The strongest of the winds should gradually become confined to north east Scotland by late evening."
