A weather warning has been issued for Ayrshire, with heavy wind and rain forecast over the weekend.

It follows the Met Office issuing a yellow alert for the area, with the potential for flooding and damage to communities.

Train and bus services could be delayed while spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team is advising the public to avoid exposed coastal areas.

It said: "There is a small chance of fast flowing water or deep floodwater causing danger to life.

"In addition, strong winds may be an additional hazard at times with a slight chance of trees falling, power cuts and loss of other services to homes and businesses."
