Plans are under way to reduce the annual £2.5m spent on land filling in North Ayrshire.

The council's waste awareness team will be setting up stalls in the area this week to spread information on how residents can reap the rewards of recycling.

Councillor Jim Montgomerie said: "We're fortunate to have so many residents committed to doing their bit when it comes to reducing waste.

"It's due to their ongoing hard work and dedication that North Ayrshire is one of the top performing areas when it comes to recycling."

"I'd encourage everyone to try and get along to one of the events and discover new ways to recycle, reuse and reduce waste."
