The Ayr Gold Cup has been rescheduled to take place at Haydock Park in Merseyside on Saturday.

The race was due to take place on Saturday but was abandoned after an inspection found the course to be waterlogged.

It was the first time in the 200-year-old event's history that the whole festival was called off.

There will be no special draw for the race and the standard automated draw allocation will be in operation.

The race will have a maximum safety factor of 17 runners.

Clerk of the course for Haydock Park Kirkland Tellwright said: "We're pleased to be able to support horsemen and host the Ayr Gold Cup at Haydock Park following the unfortunate abandonment of the fixture.

"32Red sponsors a number of major races at Jockey Club Racecourses and we're delighted that they have been able to lend their support to this special race."
