A man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of an elderly couple at their home.

The incident happened at around 10.50am on September 12 on Woodvale Avenue in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire.

More than £1000 was reportedly taken from an elderly man and his wife, who are aged 76 and 71.

Men were said to have forced their way into the house after claiming to be from the water board.

Police have now said a 24-year-old man had been detained in police custody over the incident.

He is expected to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court later on Wednesday.
