An Irvine man missing for more than eight weeks has been traced by police.

Gordon Wilson had be reported missing from his ward in Ayrshire Central Hospital in July.

The 47-year-old had taken a walk and not returned to his ward.

Officers had made several appeals as concern had been growing over the issue.

A police spokesperson said: " Gordon has been traced safe and well.

"The media and members of the public are thanked for the assistance with this matter."
