Ayrshire engineer in running for apprenticeship prize
Anna Manson from Monkton completed an engineering apprenticeship with Spirit AeroSystems.
An Ayrshire woman has been nominated for a Scottish Apprenticeship Award.
Anna Manson from Monkton completed an engineering apprenticeship with Spirit AeroSystems and now is one of its full-time employees.
The 22-year-old has been shortlisted in the apprentice ambassador of the year category.
She said: "When I left school I knew I didn't want to go onto university and that I wanted to do an apprenticeship.
"I wanted the hands-on experience. I learn better that way compared to reading through a book. The prospect of a job at the end of it also attracted me."
Ms Manson completed an HNC in aeronautical engineering at Ayrshire college as part of her apprenticeship.
Director of education contracts and business development at Ayrshire College, Stuart Millar said: "We are delighted, but not surprised, that Anna has been recognised as one of the biggest ambassadors of the Modern Apprenticeship programme in Scotland."
