A family has urged a missing man last seen at a garage to get in touch.

James McGhie, known as Jimmy, 69, left his home on Easter Road, Shotts, before 8am on Monday.

He travelled to a garage in Shields Road, Motherwell, speaking to a member of staff and leaving his car to be serviced.

Mr McGhie indicated to a member of staff that he intended to travel to Hamilton to have his mobile phone repaired.

He has not been in contact with his family since Sunday, which is said to be very unusual for him.

He is described as 5ft 2in, with a medium build. He has grey hair and a beard. When last seen he was wearing a dark coloured overcoat.

Enquiries to trace Mr McGhie have been unsuccessful so far. Officers continue to review CCTV footage for any additional information on where he may have gone.

Inspector Neil MacLeod said: "We are linking in with transport organisations for any information on where Mr McGhie may have gone.

"Officers are in the Hamilton area reviewing CCTV and mobile phone shops for any clue as to his whereabouts.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr McGhie or who may have any information or knowledge about him to contact us. His family just want to know he is safe and well."

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Motherwell Police Station via 101.
