The Scottish SPCA is calling on reptile lovers to offer their home to a slippery guest.

Thor, a seven foot boa constrictor, is currently being cared for by staff at the Scottish SPCA centre in Dumbarton.

The charity is asking anyone who has experience in handling snakes to care for the reptile, and say that a spacious enclosure is necessary.

Centre manager Joe McDade said: "Thor is a seven foot long boa who is looking for an owner who can offer him a spacious enclosure and the right diet.

"Boa constrictors are beautiful snakes with very distinctive markings, Thor is no different and is a stunning snake who will make a fantastic pet for the right person but he's not for the inexperienced.

"Though they don't play fetch or come when you call their name, snakes are great pets for any reptile lover and Thor is friendly and well handled."

Anyone who can offer Thor a suitable new home is being asked to contact the Scottish SPCA's centre in Dumbarton on 03000 999 999.
