A special space school project in Paisley has been held for the fourth successive year.

Led by former Nasa astronauts and professionals, around 200 pupils are split into teams before taking part in a week-long programme of experiments including designing an annual badge.

The winners were announced at an awards ceremony with the design taken into space and used by astronauts on the International Space Station.

American-born Nasa astronaut Steve Swanson, who has participated throughout the Mission Discovery programme, was on hand to deliver the prizes.

Kane Flynn, a primary seven pupil at Rashielea Primary School in Erskine, was handed the special award this year.

Schools in both Renfrewshire and Inverclyde have supported the event, which provides classes on team building and personal development.
