A man is expected to appear in court over the death of a charity worker and an alleged attack on her teenage son.

Alyson Watt was found dead at her home in the Ralston area of Paisley on Friday.

The 52-year-old was a domestic abuse counsellor for the children's charity Barnardo's, who colleagues described as a "much-valued and long-standing member" of the team based in the Renfrewshire town.

Her son Tom, aged 16, remains in a critical condition at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after the incident in Penilee Road.

Gary Brown, 54, was arrested in connection with Ms Watt's death and the alleged attempted murder of her son.

He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Thursday.
