A man has been arrested after being found locked inside a van he had allegedly broken into.

The 38-year-old reportedly spent the whole night inside the vehicle after becoming stuck.

The owner of the van, Michael Dolan, contacted the police after discovering the man as he was on his way to work the next day.

Officers attended and arrested the suspect on Glenalmond Street in Glasgow's Shettleston on Tuesday.

A police spokeswoman said: "At around 3.30pm on Tuesday June 6, police were called to a report of an attempted theft from a van in Glenalmond Street, Shettleston.

"Officers attended and a 38-year-old man was arrested and detained in police custody in connection with the incident."
