A man has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder a woman at a caravan park.

Scott Rooney, 21, was arrested over the incident at Wemyss Bay Holiday Park, Inverclyde.

Rooney, of Inverclyde, is accused of trying to kill a 27-year-old woman on Friday, May 26.

He has also been charged with assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement following an alleged attack on a 66-year-old.

Rooney is also said to have assaulted a 41-year-old woman.

He made no plea or declaration during the private hearing at Greenock Sheriff Court and was committed for further examination.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
