An elderly woman with dementia who went missing following a church visit has been found safe and well.

Mary McLean, who is known as Ann, was reported missing after leaving Hamilton West Parish Church in South Lanarkshire around lunchtime on Sunday.

The 71-year-old had been visiting with friends and carers from her nursing home.

A search was launched and police traced Mrs McLean safe and well later on Sunday.

Officers thanked the public for their help in the matter.
