A man was knifed before a gang tried to mow him down in an attempted murder in Glasgow.

The initial attack happened in Lambhill on Wednesday at 10.25pm.

The 40-year-old victim was walking on Hillend Road when a gang of men armed with knives got out of a Volkswagen Golf and attacked him.

The wounded man then walked towards Eriboll Crescent when the gang drove their car at him.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for lacerations. He is in a stable condition.

Detective inspector Phil Peacock, of Maryhill Police Office, said: "Extensive enquiries are continuing into this incident and at this time, I would urge anyone who saw this vehicle in the local area, or who has any information on the men responsible to come forward.

"Any witnesses, or anyone with information should contact Maryhill Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 4406 of May 31.
