A Scottish man has been arrested over an allegedly abusive social media post about the Manchester terror attack.

The suicide bombing by Salman Abedi killed 22 people and injured 119 at the Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena on May 22.

Hamza Siddiq, formerly known as Andrew Calladine, was arrested by police in the East Midlands county of Nottinghamshire last week.

Siddiq, from the Dumfries and Galloway town of Kirkudbright, was detained under section five of the Public Order Act, which relates to "threatening or abusive words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour".

The 35-year-old was released while police continue their enquiries.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "A 35-year-old was taken into custody and questioned by officers, following alleged comments made on social media.

"He has been released under investigation"
