Cyclist, 71, dies after falling off bike on street
Police are appealing for a motorist who stopped to help the elderly man.
An elderly cyclist died after falling off his bike.
The 71-year-old man was riding along the A71 Main Street in Overtown, near Wishaw, North Lanarkshire.
He came off his bicycle around 9.20am on Wednesday.
Police confirmed he was taken to Wishaw General Hospital before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he died in the early hours of Thursday.
Constable Andrew Alexander said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and it is absolutely crucial that we speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened.
"In particular we would like to speak to the female driver of a white Fiat 500 who we believe stopped to assist the victim after seeing him fall off his bike."
