The stabbing of a dog walker in Glasgow could be linked to the attempted murder in the city.

Emergency services were called to Wester Common Road in Possilpark following the incident on Monday night.

A man, 57, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with stab wounds. He is in a stable condition.

A Skoda Octavia was found burnt out on High Craighall Road shortly after the knife attack.

Police believe the incident could be linked to the attempted murder of Steven "Bonzo" Daniel, the nephew of former gangland boss Jamie Daniel, who died of cancer last year.

Mr Daniel stopped near the Dobbie's Loan M8 slip road and was assaulted with what police described as a "bladed weapon", believed to be a knife or a machete.

His face was described as being "carved up" following the attack.

Similar to the incident on Monday night, the cars used by the attackers were later found burnt out.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "One line of inquiry we are following is in relation to if the two incidents are linked."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We sent two ambulance crews and a male patient in his 50s was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary."
