A man who was killed after being hit by a van on the A83 at the weekend has been named by police.

Karlis Reide was walking along the side of the road, near Inverraray at 1.30am on Sunday.

The 28-year-old was struck by a Vauxhall Movano travelling westbound and he was pronounced dead by emergency services at the scene.

His relatives have been informed by officers.

Diversions were in place for over 12 hours while police investigated.

The 34-year-old driver of the van was uninjured.
