A man has been charged with attempted murder over an alleged stabbing on a bus.

The 41-year-old has been arrested over the incident on a vehicle in Neilston Road, Paisley.

Police were called to the McGill's bus around 11.15am on Saturday after a man aged 39 allegedly suffered stab wounds.

He was then taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in the town with serious injuries but later discharged himself.

A police spokeswoman said: "A 41-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with this incident.

"He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday."
