Billy Connolly has won an award for his outstanding contribution to Scottish television.
The comedian, who turns 75 in November, was honoured at the Royal Television Society (RTS) Scotland awards in Glasgow on Wednesday.
He was presented with the award over video link by screenwriter Peter McDougall, a lifelong friend.
Connolly told attendees: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I like these prizes.
"I owe everything to Bill Tennent from Scottish Television who put me on his show every time he couldn't find another guest.
"He would phone me and I'd go and turn up with my guitar and play folk songs."
In a speech honouring his friend, Mr McDougall said: "Billy Connolly is not just talented, he is gifted - and he is our gift.
"It's my pleasure that we've been friends for nigh on 50 years but, more importantly perhaps, over those years it's been my privilege and yours to have been allowed the glimpses that he gives of his genius."
Previous winners of the RTS Scotland award include Peter Capaldi and the Beechgrove Garden's Jim McColl.
