Commuters are facing rush hour delays after trains were cancelled due to damaged overhead electrical wires.

Widespread disruption has been caused due to the fault at Newton Station in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire.

The line was closed on Tuesday morning, with major disruption expected until 1pm.

Services between Glasgow Central and Lanark have been cancelled.

Trains running between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts are also facing disruption.

ScotRail has confirmed services between Dalmuir and Larkhall as well as Dalmuir and Motherwell have also been cancelled.

Trains due to run between Larkhall and Milngavie are also not operating.

Replacement buses have been put on for the affected routes.
