The owners of a Glasgow music venue claimed its future is under threat from a hotel being built nearby.

The new boutique hotel will be built on St Vincent Street, next door to the iconic King Tut's Wah Wah Hut music venue where Manchester band Oasis were discovered in the early 1990s.

DF Concerts is concerned it could lead to noise complaints and leave the venue at risk of private nuisance actions and even potential closure.

Glasgow music fans had their say on social media.

Andrew Gibson said: "Hotels going up everywhere but the very venues which attract visitors like King Tuts and The Sub Club end up under threat. The council should be protecting venues like these."

Michael Mackenzie added: "Brilliant venue, it should be listed."

Local rapper Loki had a different view and claimed the venue had decreased in relevance and was "trading on the prestige of a by-gone era".
