Father stabbed after asking group to 'keep the noise down'
Mark King attempted to murder 37-year-old Steven Downes on Aberfeldy Street in Glasgow.
A man stabbed a father-of-two after he complained about the noise he was making in the common close of his flat.
Joiner Mark King, 21, from Riddrie, was convicted of attempting to murder 37-year-old Steven Downes on Aberfeldy Street in Dennistoun, Glasgow, on January 17, 2015.
The High Court in Glasgow heard Mr Downes went out to remonstrate with a group of people who were in the common close making a noise about 1.30am
In evidence, Mr Downes said: "I asked them to keep the noise down because my children were sleeping."
He told the jurors one of the group apologised to him but Downes, who was armed with a knife, ran up the stairs towards him.
Mr Downes added: "I think I got stabbed when I got dragged out of my house with my jumper over my head.
"A group were kicking my door open and bottles were getting flung.
"I blacked out and ended up in the Western Infirmary suffering from a punctured lung."
Two other accused, Thomas Carberry, 20, and Francis McIlwraith, 18, both from Glasgow, were cleared of attempted murder and walked free from court.
King, who denied the attempted murder, shook his head as his guilty verdict was delivered.
Judge Lord Clark deferred sentence on King until February 27 at the High Court at Livingston for background reports.
