Half a million "benzo" pills have been seized by police during a drugs operation.

Officers acting under warrant raided three properties in the north of Glasgow last Thursday morning.

They recovered a haul of around 500,000 tablets believed to be benzodiazepines, which include Valium, from Denmark Street and Keppochhill Road in Possilpark and Benview Street near Firhill Stadium.

No one has yet been arrested over the haul of psychoactive substances and inquiries are ongoing.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Around 10.30am on Thursday, January 26, officers searched under warrant three flats in the north of Glasgow, one in Benview Street, Firhill; a second in Denmark Street, Possilpark and a third in Keppochill Road, Possilpark, Glasgow, and recovered around 500,000 pills believed to be benzodiazepines.

"Forensic tests will be carried out to confirm the identity of the substances."
