A man is in hospital after two men attacked him with bottles behind a court building.

The 24-year-old victim was assaulted next to Glasgow Sheriff Court by the pair at around 4.10pm on Thursday.

He was walking along Norfolk Street near Bridge Street when he was approached by the attackers and struck with glass bottles, leaving him with serious wounds to his face.

The victim was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment and medical staff described his condition as stable.

The attackers are described as around 21 years old and both were wearing dark clothing. One man had dark hair and the other had fair hair.

Detective sergeant Martin Smith from Cathcart CID said: "A young man has been left with serious facial injuries as a result of this attack and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen two men matching the above description on Norfolk Street, or near to the rear of Glasgow Sheriff Court.
