Around 75,000 ravers tried to get their hands on tickets for a world-famous dance event coming to Scotland.

Tickets for elrow, made famous in Ibiza and Barcelona, sold out in minutes after they went on sale on Friday morning.

Organisers for the Glasgow rave, to be held at SWG3 on Eastvale Place on March 18, revealed more than 75,000 users visited the website for tickets but most were let down due to the huge demand.

Elrow is dubbed the "world-beating rave" by ticket service Skiddle and is known for extravagant costumes, props and blow up toys.

The event organisers said in a statement: "The Saturday, March 18, elrow event at SWG3 has now sold out.

"We understand people's frustrations at not being able to get their hands on tickets before the show sold out, however, SWG3 is a limited-capacity venue.

"Our priority access signup had over 6000 applications. Demand has far outstripped supply for this show and unfortunately as a result not everyone can get a ticket."

They added: "We are actively working with our ticket suppliers to cut out touting of tickets purchased this morning.

"We strongly encourage anyone unable to attend or holding surplus tickets to make them available for resale via Skiddle's Re:Sell platform.

"Those on the Skiddle waiting list will then be notified as tickets are added. We are working on adding a second elrow party on Sunday, March 19, register your interest for this at elrowglasgow.com and stay tuned for further updates."
