Woman rescued after lorry driver helps hoist car out of sea
The incident took place on the A77 near Girvan, South Ayrshire, at around 11.40am on Thursday.
A driver was rescued after a lorry driver helped hoist her car out of the sea on the South Ayrshire coast.
The incident took place at around 11.40am on Thursday when the car, which she was driving along the A77 south of Girvan, careered off the road and towards the sea.
Images captured by a passer-by show a Good Samaritan driving a lorry stopping on the road to lend his crane and hoist the car free.
Police said nobody was hurt in the incident, which took place during icy weather conditions.
A spokesperson for the force said: "The incident took place at around 11.40am in the Girvan area. I can confirm that police officers were in attendance but there were no injuries."
Motorists faced major disruption as the icy conditions caused crashes in the Highlands, the west of Scotland and Fife.
