Police are hunting for a woman who slashed a man with a blade as he stood with his girlfriend in Glasgow's east end.

The man was left with serious cuts to his head and body after the attack at around 5pm on Thursday.

Police said the 28-year-old victim was with his girlfriend in Duke Street, near its junction with Fleming Street, when they were approached by a man and woman.

The woman then used a bladed weapon to assault the man leaving him with lacerations to his head and body.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment following the incident.

Detective sergeant Brian Gribbons said: "Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and gathering CCTV footage. Enquiries are continuing today into this incident to establish the exact circumstances and more details on the woman responsible.

"The area where the serious assault took place is very busy and at this time I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Duke Street near to Fleming Street around 5pm on Thursday evening, who either witnessed this incident take place, or who has information that may assist the investigation to contact Shettleston Police Office through 101.
