A man in in hospital after a serious assault outside a South Lanarkshire football club.
Police were called to Toryglen Road in Rutherglen at around 7am on Saturday after reports of an attack outside Rutherglen Glencairn FC's Celsius Stadium.
Officers said the 29-year-old victim was taken to hospital with several "lacerations".
Detective Sergeant Susie Cairns from Lanarkshire Division said: "Our enquiry is at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and who is responsible.
"Police enquiries are being carried out in the area and officers are gathering CCTV footage.
"Anyone with information that may assist our investigation should contact Cambuslang Police Office through 101.
"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
A junior football game between Rutherglen Glencairn FC and Shettleston scheduled to take place at the club on Saturday was postponed due to the incident.
In a post on social media, the club said that police were not allowing access to the stadium.
