Man chased by gang in car and stabbed after leaving bar
The victim left a pub in Merchant City, Glasgow, before being attacked and knifed in the street.
A man was chased by three men in a car and stabbed in a targeted attack after leaving a city centre bar.
The 31-year-old man left a pub in Merchant City in Glasgow on Thursday night when he was followed by the trio in a dark Vauxhall Zafira.
Two of them got out of the car and chased the man down Albion Street at around 8.40pm before one attacked and knifed the victim before making off when a member of the public intervened.
He was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he remains. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.
The main suspect is described as male, of Asian appearance, slim build and wearing all black clothing including a black baseball cap.
Detective constable Gordon Walker, Glasgow city centre CID, said: "We believe that this was a targeted attack on the man.
"He had just come out of a bar on Albion Street, where he was followed by three men in a dark coloured Vauxhall Zafira.
"Two of the men got out of the car and, as he was running along Albion Street towards Ingram Street, one of the men grabbed and stabbed him.
"The suspects then got back into the car which drove off towards Blackfriars Street. From CCTV we know that a male passer-by intervened in the attack, keeping the attacker back."
Mr Walker added: "As a result, he, along with the second suspect, made off back into the car. We are keen for this man to come forward as he may have information that will help our enquiries.
"Albion Street was very busy last night with lots of people in the area that may have witnessed the incident.
"So far only a couple of witnesses have come forward, however, it's possible that others may have perceived this to be a drunken disturbance and thought nothing of it.
"I would ask that anyone who saw the assault, or who has any information that will assist our investigation, contact Glasgow City Centre CID via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."
