A man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a teenager earlier this month.

Police launched an investigation after an 18-year-old woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault in the south side of Glasgow on December

She was allegedly attacked on Eastwood Crescent, in Thornliebank, at around 12.05am on Monday, December 5 after earlier getting into a car.

A 35-year-old man has been held by police and is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "A 35-year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with the incident.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal. Members of the public and the media are thanked for their assistance during this investigation."
