Pupils let off firework in school toilet sparking police probe
Firefighters alerted and sprinkler system set off at Clydebank High School on Tuesday.
Pupils forced their school to close for the day after letting off a firework in the boys' toilets.
Firefighters were alerted and the sprinkler system set off as a result of the incident at Clydebank High School shortly before lunch time on Tuesday.
Police are now investigating the incident which happened at the West Dunbartonshire school at around 11.50am and caused minor flooding.
The school tweeted on Tuesday that it had been "forced to close following a malicious activation of the sprinkler system" but is due to reopen as normal on Wednesday morning.
A spokeswoman for West Dunbartonshire Council said: "Clydebank High School has been closed and pupils sent home after a smoke alarm and sprinklers were activated within the building. All pupils and staff are safe."
Police Scotland said it was investigating the matter and bosses at the school posted on Twitter: "Clydebank High will be open to all pupils and staff.
"Thanks to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland for assisting us."
