A man was hit over the head with a bottle as he waited at a bus stop.

The 37-year-old victim was waiting at a bus stop on Edinburgh Road in Barlanark, Glasgow when three male teenagers approached him around 4.50pm on Sunday.

One of them threw at bottle at the back of the man's head before all three made off towards Langbar Crescent.

The victim suffered a head injury and was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary before being released.

The teenagers are described as white Scottish, between 15 and 18 years old, and all had short hair.

The youth who threw the bottle was wearing a light coloured grey jacket with the hood up and dark coloured bottoms.

The second teenager was wearing a dark coloured jacket with light coloured sleeves and dark trousers. The third was wearing a dark coloured jacket with light coloured tracksuit bottoms.

Detective constable Jennifer Carey from Shettleston CID said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack on an innocent man who was simply minding his own business and waiting to get on a bus.

"Edinburgh Road would have been busy with passing motorists at the time and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch.

"I would also ask anyone who may have seen three youths matching the above descriptions acting suspiciously in the area to come forward as you may have information that could assist us in tracking them down.

"Anyone with information can contact officers at Shettleston CID via 101 or alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."
