Man died in police custody after officers called to house

Police Scotland are being investigated over the death of a man in custody after officers were called to a house.
Brian Wingate, 39, was detained along with a number of other people after police were called to a house in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on the morning of Friday, November 25.
He fell ill shortly after being taken into custody by police on Tannahill Road at around 8.25am and was transferred to hospital, where he died.
The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) has now launched an investigation into the police's contact with Mr Wingate before his death.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 8.25am on Friday November 25, police attended at an address in Tannahill Road, Paisley and a number of people were detained.
"Whilst police were present, a 39-year-old man took unwell within the address and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment where he died a short time later.
"As is normal protocol, the circumstances of the incident have been referred to the Pirc."
A PIRC spokeswoman said: "The Pirc has been instructed by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) to conduct an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the death in custody of 39-year-old Brian Wingate.
"The man became ill after being detained by Police Scotland on Friday, November 25.
"He was then transferred to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where he later died that day. A report into the findings will be submitted to the Copfs in due course."
