A missing cat returned home to its owners suffering from a broken jaw and a "severely pulled tail" in Glasgow.

The animal's tail was so badly damaged it had to be taken to the vets on two occasions to have its bladder emptied.

The Scottish SPCA has now launched an appeal to find whoever attacked the feline, which went missing from Ardmory Avenue, Toryglen, on November 8.

Inspector Stacey Erwin said: "The vet has confirmed to us that this was not an accident, someone has intentionally caused this cat to suffer in a cruel way.

"The cat was struggling to go to the toilet and the owners were having to take their pet to the vet two times a day to have its bladder emptied.

"Most people are unaware that pulling a cats tail can cause it so much discomfort, which in a severe case can lead to the feline being put to sleep."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
