Teenage worker fights for life after accident at M8 roadworks

A teenage construction worker is fighting for his life after an industrial accident at the M8 roadworks.
The accident took place at a section of the works near Carnbroe Road in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 11am on Tuesday and an 18-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Medics say he is in a critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit.
A police spokeswoman said: "The incident is being treated as an industrial accident and as such a full investigation will be undertaken by Health and Safety Executive."
