Concerns are growing after an elderly man who suffers from dementia went missing earlier this week.

Edward Gallagher, 78, was last seen at around 10.50am on Monday at his home in Barlia Drive, Castlemilk, Glasgow.

His daughter raised the alarm on Tuesday afternoon and police are now are becoming increasingly concerned.

Mr Gallagher is described as white, 5ft, of slight build and bald with a little grey hair at the sides.

When last seen he was wearing dark trousers, dark jacket, dark skipped hat and tan boots.

Inspector Jennifer Aird said: "Although Mr Gallagher often goes out within the local community it is completely out of character for him not to return home.

"He suffers from dementia and his family are becoming increasingly concerned for his health and well-being.

"I would like to speak to anyone who has seen him since Monday morning or anyone who knows of his present whereabouts to contact police at Cathcart via 101."
