CCTV images have been released after a man was assaulted as he sheltered from rain in a train station.

The 35-year-old was left requiring stitches to cuts on his face after the incident in Paisley Gilmour Street station.

He was attacked by a man in an assault which police described as "nasty and unprovoked".

Officers investigating have released CCTV images of a man and woman whey seeking in connection with the incident.

British Transport Police said the woman may have witnessed the assault at around 12.10am on July 8.

Constable Colin Campbell said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked assault on a man who had gone into the station to get out of the rain.

"We would like to speak to this man as we believe he may be able to help with our enquiries."
