A police watchdog has appealed for video footage and pictures of man's fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Glasgow city centre.

The man, who was in contact with the police immediately before he fell, died after the incident at Central Station on Friday.

After being called in to review the incident, the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) have now called for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

The 47-year-old man was understood to be naked when he fell from the third or fourth floor of a hotel outside Glasgow Central station.

A major police presence was put in place on Gordon Street as officers dealt with the incident, with several cars and vans as well as ambulance vehicles at the scene.

A spokeswoman for the PIRC team said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who was in Gordon Street near to the entrance of Glasgow Central Station between 11.15am and 11.30am on Friday, November 11 who may have witnessed the incident."

Any eyewitnesses, or anyone in possession of photography or video footage of the incident have been asked to contact the PIRC on 01698 543 287 or investigations@pirc.gsi.gov.uk.
