A man was left injured after he was thrown from his bicycle in a hit-and-run crash with a tractor.

The driver of the tractor failed to stop after the collision in Dumfries and Galloway on Wednesday morning and police are now appealing for them to come forward.

Police and emergency services attended the scene on the B7085 road near Whauphill, Newton Stewart, at around 11.50am and the 31-year-old cyclist was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Constable Rachel Jackson at Newton Stewart Police Office said: "This collision happened at around 11.50am today.

"The driver of the tractor did not stop after the crash and continued on southwards towards Whauphill.

"We would appeal for him or her to come forward to police at Newton Stewart. The tractor is described as being red and black in colour and was towing a silver coloured Joskin trailer.

"Anyone who can help us trace this vehicle is asked to call police at Newton Stewart on 101."
