An 83-year-old man has died following a crash involving two cars on the A75.

The collision happened at around 11am on Sunday on the A75 road at its junction with the B6357, at the east junction for Annan in Dumfries and Galloway.

The crash involved a Honda Jazz driven by the 83-year-old man from Dumfries and an Audi A1 driven by a 69-year-old woman from Berkshire.

As a result of the crash, both drivers and both passengers were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary after being removed from their vehicles by firefighters.

The man died in hospital on Wednesday and police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash.

Sergeant Leigh McCulloch, of the road policing unit, said: "We are carrying out a full crash investigation into this collision and would ask that anyone who may have witnessed it to get in touch with us at Lockerbie on the 101 number."
