Police station cordoned off over suspicious package
A cordon was erected around the office on Stewart Street, Glasgow, on Monday.
A police station was cordoned off by emergency crews after a suspicious package sparked a safety alert.
Five fire engines attended the incident at Glasgow City Centre Police Office in Stewart Street at around 9.15am on Monday.
Police said the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service were called as part of the "procedure" in responding to a suspect material.
The force said it was later confirmed the contents of the item were not harmful and the emergency services were stood down.
A police spokeswoman said: "At around 9.15am on Monday, a suspicious package was delivered to Glasgow City Centre Police Office, Stewart Street, Glasgow. As is procedure for any suspect package, emergency services were advised and attended.
"The suspicious item was removed by the fire service for analysis and following examination, the contents of package were found to be safe. No one was injured. Emergency services have now stood down from the locus.
"Enquiries into its origin and why it was sent to the police office are continuing."
The fire service confirmed a safety cordon had been established in response to the incident.
A spokesman added: "We received a call from police shortly after 10am requesting our attendance at Stewart Street.
"Crews set up a cordon as a purely precautionary measure while work was carried out to establish the nature of an unknown substance.
