A child is in hospital after being knocked down on one of Glasgow's busiest streets.

The seven-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle on Dumbarton Road in the west end of the city on Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened near the Thornwood Pub in the Broomhill area shortly before 4pm.

She has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with her mother, who was with her at the time, for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said inquiries are ongoing.
