A man has been left with a serious facial injury after a "particularly violent" attack in Glasgow.

Police were called to a disturbance on Blaeloch Drive, in the Castlemilk area of the city, at around 2.45am on Saturday.

A 23-year-old man was assaulted during the incident and required hospital treatment as a result of the attack.

He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital, where he was treated for a serious facial injury but was later released.

Detective constable Michael MacKinnon said: "This was a particularly violent attack on this young man following the disturbance in Blaeloch Drive."

Members of the public with information relating to the incident have been asked to contact officers through non-emergency number 101.
