Paedophile abused girl after she had been Rangers mascot
Stephen Smith preyed on the youngster over a four-year period in Glasgow.
A serial paedophile abused a young girl after she had been a mascot at a Rangers game.
Stephen Smith regularly travelled to Glasgow to watch the Ibrox club, the High Court in Glasgow heard.
A judge heard how the youngster was aged just eight when the attacks started, with one incident taking place after the girl had been a match day mascot for the Glasgow team.
Smith, 59, was later caught during a large-scale probe into his abuse of the child.
He told police at the time that he had been "a bloody idiot".
In court on Friday he pleaded guilty to charges of rape, lewd and libidinous behaviour as well as taking indecent photographs.
The hearing was told Smith is already serving ten years and eight months for child sex abuse imposed at Leeds Crown Court in 2012.
Judge Lady Scott sentenced him to five years and six months to run concurrently with the earlier jail term.
