Detectives probing disorder at the Scottish Cup final at Hampden in May have arrested five more supporters, bringing the total to 70.

The men were arrested in connection with alleged violence and disorder at the Hibernian v Rangers match on Saturday, May 21, which ended in a pitch invasion.

Thousands of Hibs fans flooded on to the pitch at the national stadium in Glasgow to celebrate their team's 3-2 win over Championship rivals Rangers.

A smaller number of fans of the Ibrox side also ran on to the pitch, with some supporters from both sides involved in violent clashes.

Police said the investigation is still continuing into the disorder and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "A further five men, aged 17,18, 23, 36 and 46 years, have been arrested in connection with the alleged violence and disorder at the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park, Glasgow, on Saturday 21 May 2016.

"The latest arrests bring the total number to 70. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

"The police investigation is continuing into the violence and disorder, and officers are continuing to appeal to anyone with information that may assist their enquiries to contact the inquiry team on 0141 532 5457, or by emailing scottishcupfinalpitchinvasion@scotland.pnn.police.uk."

An inquiry by a senior sheriff into the Scottish Cup final found a minority of fans of both Hibs and Rangers were behind violent clashes.

The report commissioned by the Scottish FA into the disorder at the national stadium in Glasgow in May found a group of around 200 Hibernian fans who ran on to the pitch sparked the violent scenes.

Around 200 rival Rangers fans then ran on to the pitch, some of whom became involved in "physical confrontation" with rival supporters.
